How did Richie become a familiar and much-loved part of TKPS?
One key question shaped the decision, what kind of mascot could truly represent TKPS and grow with our students through the years?
That question led to Richie. Over time, he has become more than just a mascot, he represents the warmth, pride and spirit of the TKPS community.
As we mark TKPS100, we celebrate Richie, our school mascot and a cherished symbol of the TKPS spirit.
First conceptualised in 2010, Richie was created to represent the values we stand for. The “RICH” in Richie reflects our core values, Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Integrity, Care and Harmony, values that continue to guide our students in their journey. This bear was eventually chosen, one that could walk alongside our students, grow with them and be part of their everyday experiences.

In 2015, Richie grew quite literally into the larger than life presence we know today. Standing at around 2 meters tall, he became an even more familiar and exciting figure around school, bringing energy and joy wherever he goes.
Whether in school uniform, out on an adventure or dressed to celebrate the rich cultures of our community, Richie reflects the vibrancy and diversity of TKPS.
As we celebrate 100 years, Richie continues to be a beloved part of TKPS. As we look ahead, we can’t wait to see where Richie walks with us next.
